Whom should I contact about volunteering?
You can sign up for shifts through this site. Click on 'Opportunities' on the left or the calendar icon at the top to see our shifts. If you have specific questions, please email the volunteer department
Can I bring a group?
Yes. We will have more information on group volunteering shortly. In the meantime, please email volunteer@dailybreadcommunityfoodpantry.org with the name of your group, amount of volunteers, and age ranges and we will find a time for you to participate.
How old do you have to be to volunteer with Daily Bread Community Food Pantry?
We have volunteer opportunities for all ages. Please take a look at each volunteer opportunity for which best suits your group or age range. We do have specific special volunteer events for students 13+ who are looking for service hours. Please visit the Student Volunteer Opportunities Page.
Can I complete community service at The Daily Bread Community Food Pantry?
You can sign up for shifts right on this site, but we are unable to guarantee a set number of hours. We also are not able to provide one-on-one supervision at this time. If you are a student please visit the Student Volunteer Opportunities Page. All others please visit the Volunteer Opportunities page.
What should I wear to volunteer?
All volunteers must wear closed-toed shoes (no sandals or flip flops allowed) and comfortable clothing. See shift descriptions for specific attire instructions and please keep in mind that some shifts are outside - so please dress according to the weather and remember that you’ll be outside the whole time.
What are the current COVID-19 Policies at the pantry?
Volunteers are asked to wear a mask while at the Food Pantry, even if you are fully vaccinated. Volunteers who are ill or have a cold should not volunteer and are encouraged to stay home.
The date/time I want to volunteer doesn't have any open spots. Can I join that shift?
You can join the waitlist for the shift. If space opens up everyone on the waitlist will be notified and whoever responds first will get the slot.
Do you have any shifts available that aren’t on the calendar? Weekends? Can we customize an event to work with our schedule?
All of our shifts are listed on our volunteer calendar. At this time we are unable to accommodate requests outside of the shifts listed on the calendar.
Can Daily Bread Community Food Pantry provide me with documentation of my hours?
Yes, we can sign the documentation that you bring in. Please ask for this at the beginning of your shift. Letters of recommendation will be written on a case-by-case basis.
You can also print a Volunteer Resume showing all of your work and impact by going to your dashboard and clicking the 'Volunteer Resume' link under the 'Hours by Skill' bar.
Can I bring donations with me to my volunteer shift?
Yes, please! We accept donations of all non-perishable food during your volunteer shift. Check out a list of our most needed items.

Can I volunteer on a Holiday?
Daily Bread Community Food Pantry is closed on all major holidays. Please note: during the winter holidays, from November 1 through December 31, food banks and other agencies are often booked months in advance, and receive many requests for help; Consider volunteering or donating in slower times of the year, like the spring or summer.
